Broke the rucksack cover

While getting ready to leave home this morning the popper broke off the rucksack cover. Not the end of the world today as dry and bright. Need to get a new one tomorrow (saturday) as come home late on sunday along some dark roads.

At this weeks #bikeability course with 10 and 11 year olds, it frustrating to find 3 of the students never walk anywhere. If they can’t cross the road effectively on foot how do the parents expect them to ride on the road?

Cycle length of UK

Completed a bikeability course today. Students all made good progress but many need far more experience of being out on the road. Several struggled to cross the road effectively on foot.

Annoyingly I’ve managed to loose the pre-tension bolt from my rotor cranks.

This article in #thetimes https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/cyclists-get-1-000-mile-right-to-ride-chdw7rqrz is interesting for all those interested in traffic free riding.

However, I’m not sure about the section ‘..explore the length and breadth of Britain without being forced onto dangerous roads …’. If the roads are dangerous this problem should be fixed. Bridle ways aren’t necessarily safe either.

Monday 24th sept. Sunny day

Back this week to the bread and butter work of bikeability. This weeks school is about 6miles from home so a fairly easy commute by bike. My head cold appears to have cleared up, so rode strongly especially home.

Wore lots of layers as temperature started around 6deg but steadily rose to 23deg with plenty of sun and a light breeze.

Using my now preferred base layer from #kymirasport was the correct choice

For those into #trainingpeaks i did some unstructed intervals at FRC level keeping up with the traffic.

Similar day tomorrow so may take an extended ride home doing some sprint intervals

Weeking 23rd setp summary

Last weeks structure was a little different to usual. Did 3 lots of SUD course and 2 days of pedestrian training.

SUD (safer urban driving) is about getting lorry and van drivers out on the roads on bikes to get a feel of what its like riding in urban amd congested areas. Its a shame lots of cyclists ride so badly and i considerately.

Was also suffering with the tail end of a cold so bottled out of 35 miles each way commutes into central london from maidenhead. The train took the strain.

The Journey Begins

Well  this is now the start of my blogging life.  I’ll be restricting stuff to cycling related mater.   I’m  into timetrials and working in the cycling service sector doing bikeabity, SUD training and guiding.  Pretty much a full time job
